St. Ignatius Jacobite Syrian Church, Marol, Mumbai

'Feast of St. George' The main perunnal of our church will be celebrated on 26th, 27th and 28th April, 2013. H.G. Elias Mor Yulios, Metropolitan of High Range region of Ankamali Diocese will be the chief celebrant.

On Friday, 26th evening after Evening Prayers, Gospell message will be delivered by Rev.Fr. Dr. Prince Manathoor. On Saturday, 27th evening after Evening Prayer and Gospel message by His Grace, a colourful 'Raasa' will be taken out around Marol area. On Sunday, 28th morning Holy Qurbono will be offered on three altars, followed by Special intercessory prayers to St. George and Perunnal message by His Grace.

The Annual Competitions of the Sunday School, Youth Association & Vanitha Samajam was held on Sunday, 14th April 2013 immediately after Holy Qurbana. The following were the winners:

On all these days, Carol group led by Youth Association members will assemble at our Church at 7.00 p.m. and will visit members' residences between 7.30 p.m. and 12 midnight.

Dukhorono of St. Gregorios (Parumala) will be celebrated on Sunday 11th November 2012.

H.G. Thomas Mor Alexandrios, Asstt. Metropolitan of Mumbai Diocese will be the chief celebrant.

Holy Qurbono at 8.00 a.m., followed by special intercessory prayers.

Nercha and Love Feast will be served to all.

A one day retreat of the Sunday School Teachers of Mumbai Diocese was held at our church on Friday, 26th October 2012. Rev. JOBI KORUTH, Director of Sunday Schools of Mumbai Diocese of the Mar Thoma Church and Vicar of St. Peter's Mar Thoma Church, Goregaon was the speaker.

Achen took a powerful class on the topic : 'A new Cartography for our mission - ministry' in the first session. The second session was on 'How to be a good Sunday School teacher?'

Post lunch, in the business session a variety of topics related to our Sunday Schools were discussed. Rev. Fr. Bobby George, Director of Sunday School, Mumbai Diocese presided.

Rev. Fr. Daniel Karavallil, Vicar of our Church welcomed the teachers. Diocesan Sunday School Secretary Mr. T.V. Cherian proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of Sunday School Teachers from different parishes of Mumbai attended.

The younger generation of the Church born and brought up outside Kerala is seen to be perplexed when they hear the prayers and hymns in Church prepared in Malayalam, as they are unable to read the Malayalam manuscript in its original form. To avoid this dilemna, the Common Prayers of the Jacobite Church has been compiled in an App form for use in Android and iOS based smartphones for the tech-savvy generation of today. The app 'JACOBITE PRAYERS' includes the Transliteration (Manglish) of Sheemo Namaskaram and the Pampakuda version, and also its English translation. (Includes Great Lent Prayers also).

This app has been developed by Mathew Thomas (Shaji), a member of St. Ignatius JS Church, Marol, Mumbai. Hope this app will help the younger generation of the Church to follow the liturgy of prayers better and promote divine presence in their family life. The app can be downloaded for FREE from Google Play (Android market) and iTunes Store.
